  • NLA Awards 2017 Shortlisting (7/11/2017) - The new mixed use housing development for L & Q on Bream Street in Hackney Wick was shortlisted for the NLA Awards 2017 in the Housing category. The short listing highlights the high quality design that the design team – which includes East and AHMM – have achieved with L&Q and Quadrant Construction.
  • Mayor’s Design Advocates (7/11/2017) - Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London has selected Julian Lewis as one of his ‘Mayor’s Design Advocates’ chosen to support his Good Growth By Design manifesto for London.
  • Symposium ‘Dwelling in the Periphery’, at Kingston School of architecture (6/14/2017) - Julian Lewis will present East’s approach to working at the edges of the city as part of a symposium organised around the theme of Dwelling in the Periphery, set by Andrew Clancy, Professor of Architecture at Kingston University.
  • Planning permission received for Flaxyard housing (6/8/2017) - East’s Flaxyard housing project in Peckham has received planning consent and is to go on-site in 2018. East designed 81 of the 168 units in the scheme which received unanimous planning consent. East have been working alongside Levitt Bernstein, who designed the housing block adjacent.
  • Dujardin Mews wins RIBA London award (6/5/2017) - East worked for the London Borough of Enfield on the public realm and landscape alongside Karakusevic Carson and Maccreanor Lavington Architects.

  • Golden Parade on Wood Street has won the Waltham Forest Design Award for the Best Public Realm 2017. (5/24/2017) - Designs for the new shopfronts, signage and building improvements were developed in collaboration with designer Alex Rich and through consultation with the traders as part of the OLF R2 funded Wood Street Shopfront Improvement Scheme.
  • RTPI Awards Excellence in Planning shortlisting (5/22/2017) - The West Croydon Interchange Masterplan and Public Realm designed by a team led by East is shortlisted for the RTPI Awards Excellence in Planning to Create Economically Successful Places 2017.   • East shortlisted for 2017 London Planning Awards (2/27/2017) - East’s West Croydon Interchange Masterplan and Public Realm project was shortlisted for the 2017 London Planning Awards for the Best Town Centre Project. The joint submission was put forward by Croydon Council and East.
  • Design Workshop at University of Antwerp (2/7/2017) - As part of the International Design Workshop Week, Julian Lewis will be presenting East’s recent work and ideas aimed at bringing public space and use to the foreground of the changing city.

  • East shortlisted for 2016 Housing Design Awards (5/6/2016) - East, with AHMM, are shortlisted for the Housing Design Awards 2016  for a new mixed use housing development for L & Q at Hackney Wick. East have designed the Block A affordable rent building, containing 15 units, and workspace, as well as the public realm for the wider project.

  • West Croydon Interchange public realm on site (10/5/2015) - East’s suite of public realm improvements in West Croydon are currently under-construction including works to West Croydon Circus, the installation of a new ‘Interchange Spine’ at Station Road and interventions to increase the presence of St. Michael and All Angels Church.
  • Sacred Heart Primary School handover (10/5/2015) - East’s extension to Sacred Heart Primary School including new entrance hall, assembly hall and administration spaces is nearing completion.
  • East workshop at UmeåSchool of Architecture (9/26/2015) - Dann Jessen, Judith Loesing and Richard Hall are conducting a workshop at the Umeå School of Architecture in Sweden from 28th September – 1st October 2015. ‘City Stories’ will explore the role of narrative in establishing architectural briefs and will be supported by lectures on the work of East and recent teaching activities in São Paulo.

  • Julian Lewis keynote lecture at the University of Atwerp (8/3/2015) - Julian Lewis was invited to present a keynote lecture ‘City Relationships’, by the ARENA DR_SoM group at the University of Antwerp.   • East at the Berlin Make City Festival (7/14/2015) - Judith Lösing gave a talk on 16 July 2015 in Kreuzberg on the role of Ground Floors in the fabric of the city as part of the Berlin Make City Festival. This was part of a conference about the brief-making and design for the sites around the Jewish Museum in Berlin.
  • Southwark Framework (7/13/2015) - Southwark Council have appointed East, Adam Khan and Levitt Bernstein architects to be part of a new framework aimed at delivering new housing across the Borough over the next three years.
  • Bream Street planning (7/13/2015) - London & Quadrant Housing Association have submitted a planning application for a 15 unit affordable rent building in Bream Street, Hackney Wick, designed by East. East were appointed to design the building and the public realm as part of the larger development designed by AHMM which includes employment uses and over 200 housing units.
  • Newham Stepped Housing Block nearly complete (7/13/2015) - A housing development designed by East for Major Housing Association, which was shortlisted for the 2014 Housing Design Awards, is nearing completion. The 44 unit project, delivered by the Housing Association, includes generous communal terraces, and community use at the ground floor.
  • Guest contribution to Forum (7/13/2015) - East have been invited to contribute to a guest anniversary edition of the ‘Forum’; a publication of the Dutch architects society Architectura et Amicitia (AetA). East imagined an extension to the IGLO Nursery De Strandloper in Antwerpen, België by De Smet Vermeulen architecten.
  • East’s extension to Sacred Heart Primary School is on site (7/13/2015) - The project has been designed to accommodate the expansion of the primary school from single form entry to a two form entry. New entrance hall, assembly hall, and administration spaces link the existing buildings together around a new entrance and central cluster.
