Individually, each of the green open spaces set along the raised ridges of land ranging from Charlton to Erith in South East London remain secret and a source of surprise and delight to any visitor taken there. Offering long views out across the Thames to the north, as well as harbouring intricate and delicate spaces and qualities, each space is charming, if poorly maintained and often lacking in safety and amenity.

We are working on improving these spaces for the wider benefit by mapping them more carefully, scoping a wide range of improvements, meeting key stakeholders to gain shared understanding of objectives and identifying funding sources for short and long term change. An overriding aim is to engage with a wider linked strategic approach to the area, so that ways down to the river, and the identity of the place understood as a collective mosaic of spaces and uses can be realised.
