The design for Acton Town Square is part of an Acton wide Public Space Strategy. In collaboration with all relevant council departments a strategic approach to five key spaces that ties in with the emerging borough wide streetscape guidance was set out in conjunction with specific design proposals.

The Town Square will be a robust urban space stretching between clearly defined boundaries on three sides. New plates of stone will clad the sloped 'Kings Mount'; highlighting the presence of the hill and enabling a new market and more public events.
Proposals for Woodlands Park include increased visibility of entrances by resurfacing footways, increased planting and using name mats as well as improved path alignments and the opening up of an existing café and refurbished workshop spaces onto the park.
The Rectory Road green space needs a toilet for bus drivers and could become useful by introducing a basketball court, as part of a borough wide sports initiative, and protected benches.
The planting at St Mary's Burial Ground needs to be restored and the walls painted to be tonally consistent. The pool-like feeling of the space would be enhanced with two distinct panelled areas of large stainless steel mirrors.
The southern end of Crown Street is a key link from the town centre to South Acton, a large housing estate in the process of redevelopment. Increased linkage between the two is proposed via a new highly visible community building including secure bike storage for future tram users, recycling station, and a bike repair workshop.
