Garston Town London

2nd place competition entry.
A scheme to consider the re-working of public spaces in the centre of Garston for the Liverpool Architecture and Design Trust and the Speke Garston Partnership.
The design included provision of permanent steel market cupboards for water, electricity, phones, and seating. A permanent translucent canopy was designed to offer full-time long protection from the weather. Garston Town Centre model The new colourful stripy paving was to be realised using stove enamelled ‘colourtop’ concrete pre-cast units, by Marshalls.
To counter the difficulty of making direct influence on the design for new retail development adjacent to the space we proposed to draw up a planning brief on behalf of the Council to recommend plot alignments and building colours that would enable the spatial and colour strategy for the locale to be enhanced.
