Dann Jessen

Dann studied architecture in Denmark and at University of East London.

In 2005 he became a director of East. Since he graduated in 1998 he has been teaching diploma units at University of East London, Academia de Architetura di Mendrisio, Switzerland and the Cass School of Architecture. He regularly lectures in the UK, Europe and Brazil and is a Research Fellow at the Royal College of Art. He has run and contributed to international workshops in Belgium, Sweden, Portugal and Brazil.

Dann is interested in urban situations, where architecture, culture of use and economics of place come together. In projects of varied scale he explores opportunities in architecture that are specific and reveal qualities of peculiarity within a tradition of functionality.

He has over 15 years experience in generating ideas, designing and implementing architectural projects that range from landscapes, to buildings, public spaces and urban strategies.

Dann is a visiting critic for the Mayors’ Project Review Panel and a member of Hackney’s Regeneration Design Panel as well as a member of the GLA’s Special Assistance Team providing advice to local authorities and other clients on public realm and public space design.
