Acton Town Square
A robust urban space stretches between clearly defined boundaries on three sides, next to a church, supermarket and pub. New plates of granite clad the sloped ‘Kings Mount’, highlighting the presence of the hill and enabling a new market and more public events to thrive. Smaller, hand-shaped granite setts define the more informal spaces between the flat and large flagged plates of ground. New mature oak trees and LED tree lights bring civic weight to the space. A variety of architectures are brought together with equivalence, including a Morrisons supermarket which shares the space with St Marys Church. The award-winning Acton Town Square is one of the first of the Mayor of London’s 100 public spaces.
