We are recruiting in response to a range of new and expanding projects.
We are seeking a new graduated P2 assistant, a Part 2 assistant with around 3 years work experience and an experienced landscape architect interested in developing our landscaping portfolio and a team of landscape architects within East.

Part 2 Architectural Assistant (newly graduated)
Candidates should have the following:
— experience in housing and an interest in the public realm, and the flexibility to work in both areas.
— excellent communication, conceptual, drawing, graphic and design skills.
— interest in working as part of a small team.
— a passionate and wide-ranging knowledge of architecture.
— attention to detail and the creativity and persistence to find solutions that build on strategies and ideas specific to each place.
— proficiency in Vectorworks, Adobe suite, Rhino and Sketchup.
— experience of working in Revit and BIM would be beneficial.
— a good knowledge of UK Building Regulations and an interest in working within the constraints of the wider framework of guidance and regulations.
These skills should ideally be evidenced within your CV/portfolio.
In addition candidates must have:
— one year minimum work experience in the UK, this can be as part of your RIBA Part 1 placement.
— fluency in both written and spoken English.
— proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
Part 2 Architectural Assistant with 3 year’s work experience
Candidates should have the following:
— experience in housing and an interest in the public realm, and the flexibility to work in both areas.
— excellent communication, conceptual, drawing, graphic and design skills.
— interest in working as part of a small team.
— a passionate and wide-ranging knowledge of architecture.
— attention to detail and the creativity and persistence to find solutions that build on strategies and ideas specific to each place, as well as:
— good knowledge RIBA Stage 4 requirements, coordination with the wider design team, production of Stage 4 drawings and their interrelationship as well as NBS specifications.
— understanding of procurement routes such as Design & Build and PCSAs.
— experience of bespoke construction detailing as part of preparing construction information.
— a thorough understanding of UK Building Regulations and an interest in working within the constraints of the wider framework of guidance and regulations.
— some experience in all RIBA Work Stages.
— proficiency in Vectorworks, Adobe suite, Rhino and Sketchup.
— experience of working in Revit and BIM.
— a passionate and wide-ranging knowledge of architecture.
These skills should ideally be evidenced within your CV/portfolio.
In addition candidates must have:
— two years minimum post RIBA Part 2 experience in the UK.
— fluency in both written and spoken English.
— proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
Landscape Architect
We are looking for a chartered landscape architect to work from concept design through to implementation on site, preparing prepare relevant information for planning, tender, and construction stages including 3D visuals, schedules for costing, detail design drawings, and planting plans and management and maintenance schedules. Ideally you will help set up a landscape architect team within the East, supporting less experienced candidates on their pathway to chartership.
East is particularly in interested in working across landscape, public space and architectural project in a fully integrated way. We are therefore seeking a landscape architect who is open, in the same way as architects as East are, to think beyond ‘the red line’ with a focus on generosity for existing and new users, liveability and placemaking. We want to avoid working in ‘silos’.
We are a friendly and collaborative studio with flat hierarchies. We have three directors and three associates with responsibility for the practice, our projects and winning new work supported by assistants. We hope the right candidate for this position will join the senior team after the probation period.
Candidates should have the following:
— a degree or MA as well as four years+ proven experience in landscape architecture practice, working across private and public space projects.
— a strong interest in and understanding of plants.
— a strong interest and proven skills in landscape design and project management of landscape projects.
— interest in developing a team of landscape architects and expanding East’s landscape portfolio and client base.
— ability to lead complex projects, manage junior staff, and work seamlessly within larger teams with an awareness of deliverables, programme and resource management.
— excellent communication skills and the ability to develop, draw and communicate design ideas from early concepts through to technical stages.
— a passionate and wide-ranging knowledge of landscape architecture and placemaking.
— attention to detail and the creativity and persistence to find solutions that build on strategies and ideas specific to each place, as well as:
— good knowledge RIBA Stage 4 requirements, coordination with the wider design team, production of Stage 4 drawings and their interrelationship as well as NBS specifications, schedules, management and maintenance plans.
— understanding of procurement routes such as Design & Build and PCSAs.
— experience of landscape detailing as part of preparing construction information.
— an understanding the framework of guidance and regulations at local and national levels.
— some experience in all RIBA Work Stages, including understanding of the landscape architects post occupancy role.
— proficiency in Vectorworks, Adobe suite, Rhino and Sketchup.
— understanding of working in Revit and BIM as part of a wider team.
Desirable skills and experience include:
— experience of the tender process.
— proven ability to deal with clients and contractors courteously and fairly.
— site experience during construction and post-occupancy.
These skills should ideally be evidenced within your CV/portfolio.
In addition candidates must have:
— fluency in both written and spoken English.
— proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
